Tarot Cards

The tarot has been a sense of mystery and fascination for hundreds of years. It has intrigued us with its enigmatic and compelling pictures and symbols. Where the tarot originated from nobody really knows, and no one really knows why it works, but we do know that there are people out there who can gain access to a deeper understanding of themselves and others through the images on the tarot cards.

A deck of tarot cards is composed of 78 individual cards, these are divided into two parts, the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The major arcana is comprised of 22 carats, and the minor arcana is comprised of four suits made of 56 cards similar to a normal deck of playing cards. The Major Arcana symbolises the major events in our lives, such as our triumphs and tragedies, while the cards of the Minor Arcana symbolise the day-to-day aspects of our life.

It is not difficult to learn to read tarot cards, you do not have to be a psychic, medium, or clairvoyant to do this. All you have to do is look the cards and say what you see and feel. You need to make an intuitive connection with the cards, in particular with the symbols and pictures on them, tarot cards speak in a language of symbols, and the images actually talk to you. There are lots of books on the market that claim to teach you exactly what each of the symbols on the tarot cards mean. Take my word for it - you do not need these books, and it would take you a lifetime just to read them all.

To perform a tarot reading all you need to do is look at the cards and say what you see, then weave all the cards in the spread into the story. To do this you should incorporate the key words you used to describe each card. It is important that you go with your first impression, as this is usually best. There are many different interpretations for every spread of cards, all of which could be correct, but the important key to tarot reading is to always go with what instantaneously comes to your mind.

Remember that a good tarot card reader is completely relaxed both before during and after a reading, this relaxed attitude will rub off on the person that you are reading for, and will result in a much more intuitive and truthful divination.

      If this article is intended for education it’s not doing a good job of it. Someone needs to send a memo to the author that historians know that tarot cards first appeared in Italy and they were intended not for fortune telling but for playing a kind of card game similar to modern bridge. Tarot cards are not only used for fortune telling. They are also used today for playing card games which are still popular today in Europe. The French tarot game is especially popular and many Americans are beginning to disover it.
